Challenged by ‘Persistent Headwinds,’ Tower Health’s Transplant Program is Headed to Penn Medicine: Report

The kidney and live transplant program Tower Health rescued from bankrupt Hahnemann University Hospital less than two years ago is on the move once again, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

Tower Health said it has started the process of transitioning the Tower Health Transplant Institute and related transplant nephrology and hepatology practices to Penn Medicine.

The move is the first significant step to occur after the financially struggling Berks County health system, which spent much of this year pursuing potential merger or acquisition opportunities, announced three weeks ago it would remain independent and instead align with Penn. Read more.
