Ex-President of Ohio Healthcare Management Company Gets 3 1/2 Years in Prison for $59M Check Kiting Scheme: DOJ

The former president of an Ohio healthcare management company has been sentenced in federal court to three and a half years in prison on his conviction of bank fraud, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced.

United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan imposed the sentence on Harold Sosna, age 68, of Cincinnati, Ohio. During the time of the check kite scheme, Sosna was the president of Premier Healthcare Management in Blue Ash, Ohio, the justice department said in a news release. It owned and operated nine nursing care facilities in southern and central Ohio. 

Sosna pleaded guilty last year and wa awaiting sentencing.

“Harold Sosna received a long prison sentence which is consistent with the magnitude of his fraud scheme,” said U.S. Attorney Kaufman. “He cheated community banks in western Pennsylvania and Ohio of an astounding sum – $59 million. Sosna is responsible for the largest bank fraud scheme ever prosecuted in our district.” Read more.
