Doctors Hospital of Laredo and Laredo Physicians Group filed a lawsuit against Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa, alleging the cariologist engaged in anticompetitive conduct. The suit was filed in US. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
The suit alleges Cigarroa and his namesake Cigarroa Institute, a cardiology outpatient clinic, and Laredo Medical Center, conspired to thwart the plaintiff’s efforts to recruit cardiologists.
Laredo has eight cardiologists, according to the suit, although the population would indicate the need for at least 20.
The suit further alleges the defendants threatened potential recuirts considering employment with the plaintiffs, and that Cigarroa would “no longer respond” to emergency calls at the plaintiff’s hospital. Read more.
