Judge Approves Sale of Bankrupt Watsonville Hospital to Healthcare District

A bankruptcy judge approved the sale of Watsonville Community Hospital in California to the Pajaro Valley Healthcare District Project, reports KSBW.

After more than 20 years of ownership by for-profit corporations, the Watsonville hospital is now one step closer to being owned by government agencies. PVHDP will have until Aug. 31 to close on the sale.

PVHDP is still raising the funds needed to purchase the hospital.

The organization has received money from Santa Cruz County, Monterey County, Kaiser Foundation, Dominican Hospital and others. They also expect up to $20 million from the state of California. Read more.
