University Health Care System officials in August, GA, say an announcement on a merger with Piedmont Healthcare will be coming in early March, reports Fox 54.
Plans for the partnership were announced in the summer of 2021, with University’s board approving the affiliation in early September. As part of the deal, Piedmont will invest more than $1 billion in the area over 10 years. The investments will come in everything from information technology to clinical upgrades. Piedmont must also invest at least $2 million into community programs that address health disparities in the Augusta community.
The deal also requires Piedmont to maintain current staff for the near future. Read more.
