ChristianaCare has acquired medical practices in southeastern Pennsylvania communities of Jennersville and West Grove, reports Delaware Business Now. The practices were previously part of Tower Health. The acquisition of the practices comes after efforts to reopen small hospitals in Jennersville and Coatesville fell through. The hospitals, which had struggled financially were part of failed expansion plan by Reading, PA-based Tower Health. The University of Pennsylvania Health System also has physician offices in the Jennersville area and like ChristianaCare did not offer to reopen the hospitals. The hospital closings continue to raise concerns among first responders and community leaders about the amount of time needed to get an emergency room in Delaware or West Chester, PA. The news follows last month’s announcement that ChristianaCare had reached a preliminary agreement to acquire financially troubled Crozer Health, a deal that would bring Delaware’s largest health system into Southeastern Pennsylvania’s highly competitive market, up against Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, and Main Line Health.
