Gulf Coast Hospital Debuts $18M Inpatient Medical, Surgical Unit

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital completed an $18 million expansion with a new 24-bed inpatient medical and surgical unit, the Panama City News Herald reports. And there are more units to come in 2022.

The new unit adds about 20,000 square feet to the existing patient tower and increases its inpatient bed capacity to 262. Hospital officials said the new units are private rooms.

According to hospital officials, the expansion is part of a $62 million 60-inpatient bed project to expand critical care capacity, allow for additional inpatient rooms, and increase inpatient rehabilitation beds. The expansion has been in the works since 2019 and saw some setbacks in construction because of the COVID-19 pandemic and inflation. Read more.
