$500K Grant to Help Fund Martha’s Vineyard Dental Clinic

A $500,000 grant from MVYouth to Island Health Care (IHC) will support the capital costs of building a dental clinic for the island, something IHC CEO Cynthia Mitchell called a “desperate need,” The Martha’s Vineyard Times reports.

The hospital closed its dental clinic in 2020, unable to make it financially viable. Dentists on the Island don’t take Medicaid, which leaves only the clinics that come to the Island to fill the need.

About 50 percent of those served by the clinic will be 25 and younger, which is what prompted MVYouth to provide funding. Read more
