As Luminis Health closes in on the completion of its behavioral health pavilion at its Lanham hospital, the organization is already laying groundwork for its next big project — a campaign to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to bring more high-need services to its campus, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The health system is looking to raise a total $250 million to $300 million in the coming years to upgrade and renovate its existing spaces, as well as add to the services it offers, so patients don’t have to leave the county to get good care, Deneen Richmond, president of Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center, said in a recent interview.
That includes bringing obstetrics to the community hospital— part of a long-term expansion it’s now pushing forward. The project would include construction of a new four-story tower with a dedicated women’s center for labor, delivery and postpartum care, family-centered birthing room and C-section operating rooms. It would also involve renovating spaces for surgical support services, medical and surgical inpatient care, dining, imaging and IT, as well as capital improvements across the campus. Read more.
