Hospitals, physicians and medical educators in Boston are all making use of ChatGPT and its generative artificial intelligence capabilities, reports Becker’s.
Boston interventional radiologist Sahil Mehta, MD, recently used it to craft an appeal for an insurance claim denial.
“While it needed some minor editing, this type of document easily could take 20-30 minutes to write, yet ChatGPT wrote it in a few seconds and required just minor changes,” Dr. Mehta said. “As this technology evolves, and is better integrated into workflows, it has the ability to significantly improve physician morale, documentation, and patient care because we will spend more time with patients, less with paperwork.”
Boston Children’s Hospital is also hiring a ChatGPT engineer who will initially help with administrative and financial tasks, such as managing licensing requirements, sorting through job applications, and summarizing medical research. Read more.
