Sparrow Health System to Change Name in 2024 Following Michigan Medicine Merger

Sparrow Health System will become the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow next year.

Health system leaders said the name change is to reflect the University of Michigan brand, WLNS reports.

This process has been in the works since December when Sparrow leaders announced they would be part of U of M’s Michigan Medicine Network.

Part of the deal included U of M investing $800 million into Sparrow Health System over the next eight years.

Leaders of both systems say the University of Michigan Sparrow will tie in U of M’s brand power along with Sparrow’s more than 100-year history in mid-Michigan.

The deal amounts to a large expansion for U of M and creates the state’s second-largest health system. Read more.
