Why Americans are Turning to ‘Doctor Walmart,’ Amazon, Dollar General for Healthcare

Americans are increasingly going to “Doctor Walmart” and other retail healthcare clinics in search of convenient care and because they evidently trust large retailers with their health data, The Economist reports.

Walmart has opened over 30 health centers in the last four years, with plans to double that number by next year. Like Walmart, other retail healthcare competitors including Amazon, CVS, Dollar General and Walgreens are betting on an increase in value-based care, where providers make more money if they keep patients healthy.
