UChicago Gets State Go-Ahead for $815M Cancer Facility

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved UChicago Medicine’s plan to build a $815 million cancer care and research pavilion on Chicago’s South Side.

The 575,000-square-foot building will contain 80 beds for patients with cancer. Groundbreaking will take place later this year, and the facility is expected to open in 2027, according to a UChicago Medicine news release.

The facility expects to accommodate 200,000 annual outpatient visits, per Becker’s.
