Yale New Haven Hospital Plans to Reopen Temporary Emergency Annex Permanently

Yale New Haven Hospital is looking to reopen its adult emergency department annex, permanently this time, after it was ordered to close earlier this year.

The hospital first opened the $1 million, 35-bed emergency department extension in 2022 amid the need of more space stemming from the surge of COVID-19 pandemic and flu cases. The hospital proposed the idea late 2021.

The annex was slated to be there only for six months, and was ordered to close about three months ago due to issues with certifications, reports the New Haven Register. Read more.
