Executives of Catholic Health and medical staff were joined by local elected officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming emergency department expansion at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY, Long Island Business News reports.
The $10 million project, partially funded with a $4.2 million grant from the New York State Facility Transformation program, will add 4,000 square feet, 10 more treatment bays, an expanded waiting room, and additional nursing and charging stations. The expansion will also include an advanced diagnostic imaging room with a fully outfitted CT scan.
Additionally, the expanded emergency department will feature a treatment area for those seeking medically supervised chemical dependency detoxification and rehabilitation.
