Franklin, TN-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of one of its hospitals in April and signed definitive agreements to sell six others this year, pending regulatory approvals.
During CHS’ first-quarter earnings call, president and CFO Kevin Hammons said the system is considering potential divestitures to “provide opportunities to pay down debt as well as allow opportunities to reinvest resources to areas of our portfolio to further accelerate their long-term growth in earnings.”
CHS comprises 77 owned or leased affiliate hospitals across 15 states, according to its website. But the health system offloaded dozens of hospitals from its portfolio in recent years, Becker’s reports. Read more.
