NC Agency that Oversees Davidson County’s Mental Health Programs to Merge

Sandhills Center and Eastpointe have announced the two behavioral health organizations plan to consolidate, making the combined Local Management Entity-Managed Care Organization the second-largest in North Carolina based on population.

Sandhills covers four Piedmont counties — Davidson, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham — for providers of mental health, substance abuse and developmental-disabilities services. The Davidson County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution and plan to move behavioral health services from Cardinal Innovations Healthcare to Sandhills Center.

The combined organization will manage public behavioral health benefits for over 100,000 members in 21 counties. It will have a budget of approximately $1.4 billion and employ almost 900 people, reports The Dispatch. Read more.
