ThedaCare and Froedtert Move Closer to Merger

Appleton, WI-based ThedaCare and Milwaukee-based Froedtert are one step closer to combining.

The two healthcare systems announced their respective boards approved a definitive agreement outlining the terms of their merger, reports Fox 11 News

The goal is to launch the combined healthcare system at the start of 2024, pending pre-closing conditions, further board approvals and regulatory approval.

“ThedaCare and Froedtert Health have long legacies of investing in their communities. Both organizations are committed to helping Wisconsinites live their best lives, and we believe that the best way to do that is by coming together,” said Imran A. Andrabi, MD, FAAFM, ThedaCare president and CEO.

A merger letter of intent signed in April noted the partnership the hospitals formed in September 2022. That partnership involved Froedtert providing specialty care to ThedaCare patients and ThedaCare providing after-care closer to home to those who have procedures at Froedtert.

The health systems say combining into one organization will build on their past work together to close health care gaps, recruit and retain staff and develop innovations to meet patient needs. Read more.
