Struggling Pennsylvania Hospital Creates GoFundMe Page

Renevo, PA-based Bucktail Medical Center, which has been at risk of missing payroll and closing, is creating a GoFundMe page with the goal of raising $1.5 million, reports Becker’s.

So far, the campaign has raised $8,515. CEO Tim Reeves said he is cautiously optimistic about meeting the next payroll and said vendors, some of whom have not been paid on time, have cooperated.

The hospital in rural central Pennsylvania has been losing $150,000 per month for the last year as reimbursements lag behind rising costs. In 2015, the critical access hospital declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy but recovered three years later. Read more.
