Adventist Health completed its merger with Montebello’s Beverly Hospital, officials announced, ushering in a new name, Adventist Health White Memorial-Montebello, amid hope of maintaining vital medical services at the financially distressed medical facility. For decades, Beverly – a 202-bed general acute-care facility on West Beverly Drive – provided critical and low-cost medical services to Montebello and its surrounding communities, and has been a vital acute care hospital serving a population mostly on Medi-Cal and Medicare, the Whittier Daily News reports.
In April, the hospital filed for bankruptcy, an action that disrupted services such as pediatric care, maternity services and outpatient radiology. Last week, during the hospital’s transition to Adventist, the Emergency Department was temporarily closed to 9-1-1 patient traffic. Read more.
