Brown University and Lifespan Strengthen Partnership, But What that Means Remains Murky

Lifespan and Brown University are fostering a closer relationship, though the details remain murky since emerging last week. It might involve renaming Lifespan, the state’s largest hospital group, though neither side has said what the new name might be, if any.

“I can confirm Lifespan is in discussions with Brown University,” said Lifespan spokeswoman Kathleen Hart. She added: “We’re always looking for ways to strengthen our longstanding partnership. In regard to your question about the name: nothing is off the table in our ongoing discussions, but there is nothing to report at this point.”

Lifespan has long been affiliated with Brown’s Warren Alpert Medical School, and three of its hospitals serve as academic teaching hospitals, The Providence Journal reports. Read more.
