Novant Completes Acquisition of Pender County (NC) Hospital

Novant Health said it has completed its acquisition of Pender Medical Center, expanding its health-care footprint in southeastern North Carolina.

Novant has operated the Pender hospital since January 2021 through the system completing its $5.3 billion acquisition of New Hanover Regional Medical Center of Wilmington.

The Pender hospital serves about 21,000 patients annually, reports The Winston-Salem Journal.

The Pender County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 18 to authorize the transfer of the 25-bed acute-care hospital that also operates a 43-bed skilled nursing home facility in the area.

The county retains a majority of representatives on the hospital’s Board of Trustees. Read more.
