Healthcare’s Top PE Investors Since 2020

There have been 443 healthcare sector private equity deals in 2023 — a figure estimated to hit 577 by year’s end, according to a report published Nov. 7 by market research firm PitchBook. 

The “Healthcare Services Report” for the third quarter of this year analyzed investor activity in the healthcare sector, identifying market trends, deal counts and other financial updates. 

Shore Capital Partners leads with 27 investments.

There was more private equity activity in healthcare in the last three years than is expected to occur by the end of this year, Becker’s reports. In 2022, there were 938 deals, while in 2021 there were 1,114 and 773 in 2020. The drop in both the number of deals since 2021 as well as the decline in the total value of investments indicates investors are focused on smaller deals, existing platform growth and restructuring deals, rather than big-budget projects and transactions, according to PitchBook. Read more.
