Independent Practice Coalition Strategic Radiology Expands to New State

Strategic Radiology has added its first member practice in Washington state, the coalition of independent provider groups announced.

Launched in 1972, Skagit Radiology is based in Mount Vernon and includes 17 subspecialty-trained physicians, covering six hospitals across its home state and Alaska. The practice also has a “strong” outpatient presence in its markets, operating two imaging centers and partnering with Skagit Regional Health on a third.

“Our group is a strongly independent, service-minded practice dedicated to providing our patients and partners with excellence in diagnostic and interventional imaging services,” Kelley L. Cline, MD, president of Skagit Radiology, said in a Nov. 14 announcement. “We hope to expand best practices, scale business operations, and leverage the group purchasing opportunities through our membership in Strategic Radiology,” she added.

The national coalition now includes 36 privately owned, independent radiology groups representing more than 1,500 physicians. Washington marks the 21st state for Strategic Radiology, which also recently expanded into Montana in August. Read more.
