The fate of the state-run Jackie Withrow Hospital in Beckley and three other long-term care facilities in West Virginia is still unknown, The West Virginia Daily News reports.
West Virginia Division of Health and Human Services Secretary Bill Crouch spoke before the Interim Joint Committee on Government and Finance at the State Capitol, where he noted that Jackie Withrow Hospital, Hopemont Hospital in Preston County, John Manchin Sr. Healthcare Center in Marion County and Lakin Hospital in Mason County, are still facing closure, but he did provide different options, including privatization, to keep them open.
The primary concerns at each facility include the age of buildings, maintenance costs and continuing staff shortages, Crouch explained. Read more.
