When plans got underway for the Pavilion, the new $1.6 billion hospital complex that Penn Medicine will open Oct. 30, researchers and clinicians at the medical school saw an opportunity to rethink the way the emergency department functions, Fast Company reports.
One major goal is to reduce patient wait times in the ER.
