Crossroads Hospice Settles False Claims Suit for $5.5M

Ohio-based Crossroads Hospice and its affiliates have agreed to settle allegations of False Claims Act violations for $5.5. million, Hospice News reports.

The U.S. Department of Justice indicated that claims resolved by the settlement are allegations only and liability was not determined. The affiliated companies include Carrefour Associates; Crossroads Hospice of Cincinnati; Crossroads Hospice of Cleveland; Crossroads Hospice of Dayton; Crossroads Hospice of Northeast Ohio; and Crossroads Hospice of Tennessee.

The Justice Department alleged that between Jan. 2012 and Dec.  2014, Crossroads billed Medicare for hospice care for certain patients with a diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease who were not terminally ill. Read more.
