The clock is clicking for Pajaro Valley Healthcare District Project — the nonprofit has weeks to come up with millions of dollars in funding to prevent Watsonville Community Hospital (pictured) from shutting its doors, KSBW reports.
If it fails, it could have implications for Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, Salinas Valley Memorial, even CHOMP, on the Monterey Peninsula could see more patients.
The nonprofit still needs at least $64.4 million to buy the hospital, according to Lookout Santa Cruz. The group has brought in roughly $12 million so far, including $5 million from Santa Cruz County. The goal is to reach a sale agreement by the end of March. Read more.
