In the 2022 North Carolina State Medical Facilities Plan, state officials say there’s a need for 67 additional hospital beds in Buncombe County by 2024, MY40 reports.
Officials with two local healthcare providers — AdventHealth Hendersonville and HCA (owner of Mission Hospital) — both plan on submitting a Certificate of Need application to the state to fill that need.
The North Carolina Certificate of Need (CON) law prohibits health care providers from acquiring, replacing, or adding to their facilities and equipment, except in specified circumstances, without the prior approval of the Department of Health and Human Services. Read more.
