Yale New Haven Health System’s plan to buy three new Connecticut hospitals in Waterbury, Vernon and Manchester wasn’t impacted by an anticipated $300 million loss, an expected $250 million budget deficit and 155 job cuts “at this point,” the New Haven Register reports.
Last week, the health system laid off 72 management-level employees and further cut 83 job vacancies, citing financial challenges as it anticipates a $300 million loss this fiscal year and a $250 million deficit next fiscal year.
YNHHS in February announced its intent to acquire Waterbury Hospital, Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital in Vernon, all of which are owned by Los Angeles-based company Prospect Medical Holdings.
