Southwest General Medical Center Takes Over St. Vincent’s Bariatric Center in Cleveland

The parceling out of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center’s specialty departments to other local hospitals continues with Southwest General Health Center’s announcement that it is taking over St. Vincent’s bariatric surgery center and moving it to Middleburg Heights, Cleveland.com reports.

Bariatric center medical director Leslie Pristas, along with about 15 clinical and nonclinical members of St. Vincent’s bariatric surgery care team, will move to Southwest General’s main campus.

The bariatric center cares for patients undergoing gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries.

The change will take place at an unspecified time in November, the same month when St. Vincent ceases inpatient and surgical care at its downtown hospital. St. Vincent cited declining numbers of inpatients, the COVID-19 pandemic and other changes for the closure. Read more.
