FBI Investigating Norton Healthcare ‘Cyber Event’

The FBI is now involved in the hacking investigation at Norton Healthcare in Louisville, KY. Last week information technology workers at Norton Healthcare in Kentucky noticed suspicious activity on their computer network.

The alleged hack into the Norton network was followed by a very low-tech move — a fax, sent to Norton Healthcare, which company officials say contained a threat and demands, CBS affiliate WLKY reports.

Exactly what was happening on the Norton computer network May 9 hasn’t been released by the hospital group but whatever it was concerned Norton cybersecurity experts so much they took the network offline.

Norton officials say their computer applications were never out of their control. That’s why Norton is referring to this as a “cyber event” and not a “cyber attack.” Read more.
