DeepScribe, a company that relies on artificial intelligence to serve as a medical scribe, contracts with 200 people to listen in on medical visit recordings and correct errors, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Nearly 1,000 physicians and healthcare providers use the DeepScribe platform to record, transcribe and create physicians’ notes based on conversations with patients during visits. However, the algorithms often have “hallucinations” and provide false information, including errors in listing medications and introducing “disjointed, nonsensical sentences,” according to the report.
Each note is reviewed by one of the human contractors for errors. The reviewers reportedly have minimal ICD-10 training and rely on the physician and medical staff to confirm the codes in their reports. Read more.
