The Kingwood hospital, now known as HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, is in the midst of a $42 million expansion, The Houston Chronicle reports.
The facility was originally built in 1990 as a mall, but before it was ever occupied, a group of doctors purchased the space and opened a hospital with 149 beds. In 1995, Hospital Corporation of America negotiated a deal with the doctors and bought the fledgling hospital.
Talks for expansion began in 2019. The system expects to complete the renovations, which includes expanded cardiovascular services, new labs and increased in-patient options before the end of 2021. Read more.
