The money would pay for training and extra security as hospitals cope with staff shortages, higher costs and lost revenue, the American Hospital Association said in a letter to congressional leaders.

Funds will be distributed this week to all 50 states and D.C.

The funds would provide for a new medical facility, upgrades to existing buildings and the development of a long-awaited electronic medical records system.

Funds will be used to expand ER capacity and restore 42 in-patient beds.

Payments will start later this week to nearly 70,000 providers.

Providers are poised to get relief from pending Medicare cuts under legislation the U.S. House of Representatives passed Tuesday night on a party line vote.

The cuts come in the form of Medicare sequestration and PAYGO.

The Integrative Management of Chronic Pain and OUD for Whole Recovery Research Center at Montefiore Einstein will receive $5.1 million for its first two years; additional funding at the same level is expected for the following three years.

The average payment is approximately $170,700, with some ranging from $500 to $43 million.
