The American Rescue Plan Act, signed into law in 2021, appropriated $15 million in grants to help 20 states launch mobile crisis intervention units.

The hospitals are seeking more money than what’s available.

The state investment will go toward construction of the 180,000-square-foot hospital and neighboring medical building.

And it will benefit from several forms of formula aid, including an estimated $63 million in charity care funding to help cover the cost of treating people who don’t have health insurance, plus tens of millions of dollars for graduate medical education.

Neighborhood Navigators from The Bridge will build trusting relationships with individuals who may have a mental illness or substance use disorder that are living or spending significant time on the street in Manhattan.

The state's investment comes in support of the university's goal to obtain a National Cancer Institute Designation, which would be a first for West Virginia.

$150 million of the project is funded through the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program. 

Drew Memorial Health System will receive $4,926,897 from the pot of money, originally more than $1.5 billion, allocated to Arkansas from the American Rescue Plan Act.

The majority of the funds will be delegated toward an Azurion 7 C20 Catalyst table, which uses low-dosage X-ray levels to provide high-quality cardiovascular imaging.

A group of U.S. senators have re-introduced a piece of legislation aimed at helping schools team up with local mental health providers to provide students with on-site services.
