Bankrupt N.J. Health Plan Can’t Pay Medical Claims, Seeks Bail-Out From its Members: Report

A self-insured health plan for 2,500 physician practices and other small businesses that filed for bankruptcy in the spring says it won’t have enough money to cover medical claims and will need a bailout from policy holders to help cover its debts, NJ.com reports.

In letters sent on behalf of the bankrupt health plan, Affiliate Physicians & Employers Master Trust, attorney Daniel Stolz wrote that companies insured by the trust will be expected to pay a cash assessment based on a percentage of its claims from January through July.
