Women and children who seek care at Ascension St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Detroit will find some changes being made to enhance medical care received at the Detroit facility, thanks to a recent multi-million dollar gift made by Grosse Pointe native Mary Ann Van Elslander, Macomb Daily reports.
The donation will support the “Your Child, We Care campaign at Ascension St. John Children’s Hospital, bringing the campaign to their minimum goal of $18 million and is part of the renovation to expand the pediatric unit and create a dedicated entrance for women and children arriving at the hospital. The Van Elslander Women’s and Children’s Entrance will provide comfort and convenience for expectant mothers and children needing emergency services and eliminate the need for them to enter through the main emergency center.
The Mary Ann Van Elsander Pediatric Unit will also be established and provide added privacy for children and parents. Read more.
